It used to be about how many widgets or pieces of output you could produce over a day.
Now it is about achieving more output in less time.
What’s more, our output isn’t as concrete as it used to be so it’s harder to measure productivity this way. Knowledge workers don’t necessarily crank out x widgets a day.
